A new airport opens in the Indian state of Goa

The technical opening of a new airport took place in the Indian state of Goa.

The new Goa Mopa Airport (IATA code: GOX) is located in the north of the state, about 30 km from Panaji, the capital of Goa, and 55 km from the old Dabolim Airport. It is expected that it will serve the first passenger flights on January 5, 2023.

Domestic Indian carriers, including Indigo and GoFirst, will be the first to fly to Mopa Airport. They will connect the new airport with Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Hyderabad. Later — from March 2023 — international flights will be accepted and sent here.

Local authorities expect that the opening of the new airport will give an impetus to the development of tourism in Goa and will reduce the prices of air tickets.
