A new railway station has been opened in Belgrade
In Belgrade (Serbia), on October 20, the railway station building, which was built for almost 50 years, was opened.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic participated in the opening ceremony of the new station with an area of 6,000 m.
The station on this site began to be built in 1976, but then there was a pause in construction until the 1980s. Then, in 2018, the old station was closed and trains stopped for five years at the Belgrade-Center station, which does not have a separate building.
So far, only buses run to the Belgrade railway station, but by 2028 they plan to run a metro here.
There is only one international train from Belgrade — to Montenegro. In addition, Serbia, together with Hungary, is building a line of the Belgrade—Budapest high-speed railway, which can be put into operation in a year or a year and a half.
