A third of Pakistan was under water due to abnormal downpours

The current abnormal rainy season in Pakistan has led to unprecedented flooding. A third of the entire country was under water.

According to scientists, the current rainy season with abnormal downpours has become a consequence of global climate change. Since the beginning of May, twice as much precipitation has fallen in Pakistan. In August, settlements, houses and crops were destroyed by water flows. At the same time, a significant part of the water does not go away.

The flood affected 33 million people — about 15% of the total population of Pakistan. More than 600,000 people evacuated to temporary accommodation camps, but many residents were left to fend for themselves and received no help.
