A fairly strong earthquake of magnitude 5.3 occurred today in Croatia.

According to the website of the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center, the earthquake was recorded at 12:47 Moscow time. Its epicenter was located 36 kilometers from Rijeka, the third largest city in Croatia.

According to eyewitnesses living 5 km from the epicenter, the earthquake "lasted a long time and shook violently."
