Antalya Airport to increase capacity

The capacity of Antalya Airport (Turkey) will be expanded due to a sharp increase in passenger traffic.

It is noted that the increase in the number of passengers in the air harbor of the main Turkish resort is observed due to the intensification of international tourism after the lifting of covid restrictions. While many European airports are reducing the number of flights due to staff shortages, their Turkish counterparts managed to prepare well for the restoration of air traffic after the crisis.

At the moment, Antalya Airport operator Fraport-TAV is working on expanding the capacity — up to 80 million passengers per year. Now airport serves more than 185,000 passengers a day.

By January 2025, the area of the international terminal will be almost doubled — from 142,000 to 267,000 sq. m. Parking for 181 aircraft with a fuel and refueling complex and underground pipelines is being built. The new control tower and international terminal will appear in 2030 and 2040.

Recall that from January to July this year, Antalya received 7 million foreign tourists, which is almost twice as much as in the same period a year earlier.
