Bangkok is preparing for flooding due to heavy downpours
The authorities of the capital of Thailand, Bangkok, are preparing for flooding due to heavy rains.
Heavy rains have been falling in Bangkok almost daily in recent weeks. Flooding of city streets and hours-long traffic jams were repeatedly observed.
So, last Monday, after an hour-long downpour, there was from 20 to 50 cm of water on the streets of the capital. On Tuesday, the territory of the country's largest Kasetsart University flooded.
As noted in the utilities of Bangkok, heavy rains are a common phenomenon for the Thai capital during the rainy season from May to October. However, this year the city is threatened by flooding, including due to an overflowing reservoir in Lopburi province.
Forecasters predict that heavy rains in Bangkok will continue in the coming days.
