Buddhist monastery opened in Russia
On April 28, the largest Buddhist monastery in Russia — "Tubten Shedrub Ling" opened in Tyva. It is located in the city of Kyzyl.
The opening ceremony was attended by the head of the republic Vladislav Khovalyg, who presented the monastery with the sacred Buddhist attribute "Gandhi" made of red sandalwood.
The monastery, whose height reaches 56 m, has 12 floors. The branch of the "National Museum of the Republic of Tyva" will be located on the ground floor.
The thickness of the walls is 170 cm. The total area of the temple complex is 9.3 hectares. At the first stage of the monastery's existence, its community will be about 15 people. Six monks will arrive by invitation from Tibetan monasteries, the rest — from among Tuvan monks. In the future, the number of monks will increase.
