China has increased the period of visa-free transit to 240 hours

China has extended the period of visa-free transit to 240 hours from December 17, 2024.

Now 240-hour transit is available at 60 airports in China, including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and other cities where 72-hour or 144-hour transit was previously possible.

The new 240-hour transit is available to citizens of 54 countries.

The number of airports in the visa-free transit program has increased by 21, and five new provinces have also been added (now there are 24): Anhui, Guizhou, Shanxi, Jiangxi, Hainan.

For transit through Chinese airports, you need to have a plane ticket to a third country, as well as a hotel reservation for the duration of your stay in China.
