Eco-activists attacked a painting by Velasquez in the National Gallery of London

Eco-activists attacked a painting by Spanish artist Diego Velasquez "Venus with a mirror" in the National Gallery of London (Great Britain).

Vandals from the environmental movement Just Stop Oil damaged the protective glass of the painting, trying to break it with hammers.

The gallery's security service promptly detained the hooligans, and they were taken to the police station. They turned out to be two students — a young man and a girl aged 22 and 20 years, respectively.

The museum staff had to remove the painting "Venus with a mirror" from the exhibition. Restorers are currently assessing the scale of the damage.
