Eco-activists desecrated Charles Darwin's grave

Eco-activists of the Just Stop Oil movement attacked the grave of scientist Charles Darwin (1809-1882), buried in Westminster Abbey in London. They painted the tombstone with orange paint.

It is specified that two women aged 66 and 77 left an inscription on the tombstone of the author of the evolutionary theory: "1.5 degrees are dead." As explained on the Just Stop Oil website, this is a reference to the news from January 10 that the average global temperature for the first time exceeded the pre-industrial level by 1.5 degrees Celsius.

"Charles Darwin would turn over in his grave if he knew that we are in the midst of the sixth mass extinction," the environmental activists said in a statement. They demand that the government immediately ban the development of new oil and gas fields.

Westminster Abbey reported that the incident is being investigated by the police, specifying that the church remains open to visitors.
