Egyptian authorities want to attract more foreign tourists

The Egyptian authorities intend to take a number of additional measures to attract foreign tourists. This was stated by the Minister of Tourism Ahmed Issa during the World Travel Market exhibition in London.

Due to its proximity to Israel, Egypt lost about 10% of bookings, most of them at resorts in South Sinai. Therefore, the Government has launched new measures to support tourism in this region. In particular, we are talking about financial incentives for flights from abroad.

Such a program was in effect in 2020 — 2022, and the number of flights to Egypt increased by 44%. For the current winter season, the authorities have extended an experiment in which airlines and tour operators bringing tourists to the country will pay compensation in the amount of up to $ 2,000 per flight.

By the end of this year, Egypt intends to receive a record 15 million foreign guests. This will bring $13 billion to the country's budget.
