Ferries have been launched between India and Sri Lanka for the first time in 40 years

A ferry service has been launched between India and Sri Lanka for the first time in almost 40 years.

Since October 14, a catamaran with 150 seats has started cruising between the Indian city of Nagapattinam and the Lankan Kankesanturai. The ferry covers a distance of 111 km in three to four hours.

The ship runs daily, it departs from India at 7:00, and in the opposite direction from Sri Lanka - at 13:30. The ticket costs 7,600 rupees.
