Finnair pilot showed passengers the Northern Lights by turning the plane around

The Finnair pilot turned the plane around so that all passengers could admire the Northern lights.

The surprise was received by the passengers of Finnair flight AY488 flying from Kuusamo to Helsinki. To do this, the pilot had to deviate slightly from the course.

Photos of the northern lights in social networks were published by grateful passengers of the flight. The publication was noticed by the Flightradar24 service, which retweeted by attaching a screenshot of the aircraft's motion track.

However, in the Finnish segment of the Internet, users were not only happy for the passengers who saw this natural phenomenon, but also discussed the appropriateness and safety of deviation from the course by the pilot, and also found out what the airline's additional fuel costs were.

A similar incident occurred on an easyJet Reykjavik — Manchester flight: the pilots made a circle so that all passengers could admire the northern lights in the sky.
