First high-speed railway line to be opened in Iran
In early February, Iran will launch the country's first high-speed railway line.
Trains will run between Tehran and Mashhad on it. They will cover a distance of about 900 km in 8 hours and 20 minutes. The train will travel at a maximum speed of 160 km/h.
At the moment, ordinary passenger trains travel between Tehran and Mashhad in 12 hours.
Iran is also continuing the construction of the Tehran—Qom—Isfahan high-speed railway with the participation of Chinese companies. It is planned that trains will travel at speeds of up to 300 km/h on this line.
