Galata Tower in Istanbul opened after restoration
On May 25, after restoration, one of the most famous sights and symbols of Istanbul, the Galata Tower, was opened to visitors.
The 67-meter tower, located on the European side of the Turkish metropolis, was closed to tourists in February. Since November 2023, its eighth floor has been closed to visitors due to the restoration of the spire. Work was also carried out to improve the seismic resistance of the tower.
Earlier in 2021, the interior of the facility was renovated and a museum was set up.
During the restoration work, as noted by the Turkish Ministry of Tourism, the nests of migratory swift birds, the number of which reaches 400, were preserved on the tower.
Now, when entering the tower, a limit will be set: no more than 100 people can visit it per hour.
