Greece was hit by a strong storm
A strong storm Elias hit Greece. It affected the islands of Crete and Euboea, the Peloponnese Peninsula, Western and Central Greece and Attica.
The city of Volos in the Thessaly region suffered more than others from the storm. More than 3,500 people were evacuated there due to floods caused by heavy rains. A curfew has been declared in the city and a traffic ban has been imposed.
In the north of the island of Euboea, houses were flooded, in which local residents were blocked. Heavy rains also flooded the city of Chania in the north of Crete.
Meteorologists warn that the storm Elias will continue to move across Greece and bring with it severe thunderstorms with hail.
