Hotels and restaurants in Germany introduce an additional fee for tourists for light and heating
The energy crisis and inflation are creating serious problems for the owners of restaurants and hotels in Germany. To reduce the increased costs, entrepreneurs are introducing an additional charge for electricity and heating.
According to the publication, more and more hotels and restaurants are introducing a fixed additional fee of 3-9 euros per night, trying to "shift at least part of the additional costs" onto the shoulders of visitors.
For example, the Bareiss 5* hotel in Baiersbron in Baden-Württemberg charges 9 euros more per person per night from September, and also reserves the right to increase the fee in the future. In the boutique hotel The Hearts Hotel in the resort of Braunlage in Lower Saxony, guests pay an additional 3 euros per day for electricity.
The same situation has developed in the restaurant business in Germany. For example, the restaurant Zum Grünen Hof in the vicinity of Bremen charges an additional 1.5 euros from each visitor. At the same time, according to the owner, guests are willing to pay even more if it helps to keep the institution running.
