In Dubrovnik, entry for tourists will be restricted in 2025
The authorities of the popular tourist city of Dubrovnik in Croatia, as part of the fight against excessive tourism, will restrict visits to the Old Town from 2025.
From 2025, a "special traffic zone" will appear in the Old Town of Dubrovnik. To regulate the operation of buses and taxis, they will create a mobile application with which buses will have to pre-book entry.
The number of taxis that can enter the territory of the historical center of Dubrovnik will be reduced from 9,000 to 700.
Cars with foreign license plates will be completely banned from entering the Old City.
According to the Croatian Ministry of Tourism, Dubrovnik has received more than 3 million tourists since the beginning of 2024, which is 10% more than a year earlier. The popularity of the city increased dramatically after the release of the HBO series "Game of Thrones", fragments of which were filmed in the Old Town of Dubrovnik.
