In Egypt, archaeologists have found a sphinx with the face of the Roman emperor
Archaeologists during excavations in the province of Ken in Egypt discovered a statue of the sphinx with the face of the Roman emperor — probably Claudius. This was told by the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities.
The discovery was made by a group of archaeologists from Ain Shams University led by former Minister of Antiquities Mamdouh al-Damati. Scientists have found a Roman Empire pavilion to the east of the Dendera temple complex. A limestone statue of the sphinx with the face of the Roman emperor was excavated there.
