In France, forest fires are spreading due to the heat
In France, forest fires are resuming due to a new heat wave.
So, in the Gironde already affected by fires in July in the south-west of the country, firefighters are fighting a fire that destroyed 5,000 hectares of forest in 12 hours and is rapidly moving towards the communes of Ostan and Saint-Man, whose residents have been evacuated. A total of 3,500 people were forced to leave their homes.
Today is especially hot in the south-west of France — in some places the air temperature has reached +40 °C. Experts assess the situation in the region as a fire hazard, as the wind speed is expected to reach 40 km/h.
