In Istanbul, an explosion occurred in the Fatih district

In Istanbul, an explosion occurred in the Fatih district, which led to panic among the population.

The cause of the explosion was a fire in a technically defective car. A fire broke out, which spread to seven neighboring cars, as well as a building and an ATM nearby. One of the cars exploded.

The incident happened on Kojamustafa Pasha Street, located 5 km from Sultanahmet Square, popular with tourists. The owner of the car that started the fire was walking to his car when he noticed that the car started smoking. He stopped on the side of the road and asked for help from other men, but the car caught fire.

Firefighters who arrived at the scene extinguished the fire. According to preliminary data, no one was injured.

The police found no evidence that it was a terrorist attack or arson.

Panic among people arose due to the fact that last weekend a terrorist attack took place on Istiklal pedestrian street in the center of Istanbul, as a result of which six people were killed and 81 injured. The perpetrator of the terrorist attack, Ahlam Albashir, was arrested, she confessed to having links with the PKK.
