Iran's largest lake may dry up completely

Iran's largest lake Urmia is in danger of drying up. Scientists call climate change the reason for this.

According to the Ministry of Environmental Affairs of Iran, in order to stop the drying of the salt reservoir, the construction of new dams on tributaries feeding the lake should be stopped.

Lake Urmia is located in the mountains in the north-west of Iran, near the border with Turkey. It is recognized as an object of international importance in accordance with the UN Convention.
