Italy and Corsica suffer from bad weather: seven dead

After a long drought, Italy and Corsica (France) are suffering from bad weather — they were hit by heavy rains with hurricane winds. The victims were seven people.

So, in Tuscany, a strong wind uprooted trees, demolished roofs. Two people were killed and four were injured.

In addition, in Venice, a hurricane damaged the campanile of the cathedral in St. Mark's Square, scattered everything that was in the square. Tourists were evacuated, the square was cordoned off.

In the north of Italy, a strong wind damaged the power supply line, which interrupted railway traffic.

According to the weather service of France, on the island of Corsica, the wind speed reached 220 km per hour, almost 45,000 houses were left without electricity. Five people were killed and dozens were injured.

In recent days, storms have hit the countries of Western Europe, while abnormal heat and drought continue in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe.
