Italy's largest lake has shallowed to a record level

The largest lake in Italy — Garda — has shallowed to a historic minimum due to the strongest drought in recent years.

At the same time, the water in the lake warmed up to the temperature typical of the Caribbean Sea. There have been no heavy rains in northern Italy for several months, despite the fact that 70% less snow fell last winter than in previous years.

Many European countries are suffering from severe drought this summer. Thus, due to the shallowing of rivers in the Czech Republic and Germany, the so-called "hungry stones" became visible, and the level of France's largest river, the Loire, fell to a historic low.
