Last summer was the hottest in the history of Europe

Last summer in Europe was the hottest in the history of meteorological observations, the average air temperature was 0.4 degrees Celsius higher than a year earlier.

The Copernicus European Climate Service confirmed that Europe experienced the hottest summer ever, "in many countries there was record heat, which caused droughts and fires."

Air temperatures above average were mainly recorded in the east in August and were significantly above average in the southwest from June to August.

Climatologists warn that against the background of global warming, Europe will continue to set records for extreme heat, droughts and fires every summer.
