Mayon volcano erupts in the Philippines

The Mayon volcano has woken up in the Philippines. The authorities are evacuating the population from the danger zone.

According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs), the volcano ejected ash and rocks 199 times a day. In addition, there were six releases of lava, a mixture of volcanic particles, hot gases and ash.

Due to the increase in volcanic activity, a third level of danger has been declared around the volcano, and a state of emergency has been introduced in the province of Albay.

To date, 3,000 people have been evacuated, another 10,000 residents are awaiting evacuation. If the authorities decide to evacuate the entire population within a radius of 7 km, another 6,000 people will be taken out.
