Mount Etna erupts in Sicily

Another eruption of Mount Etna occurred on the island of Sicily in Italy. This is reported by the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology of Italy (INGV).

The eruption was recorded in the southeastern crater of the volcano. According to INGV, the height of the eruptive column was about 4,500 m above sea level.

It is clarified that so far the eruption of Etna has not affected the operation of the airport of the Sicilian city of Catania.

Etna is the highest active volcano in Europe. In 2013, it was included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. As a rule, the activity of Etna does not pose a danger to the population.
