Mount Etna has shown activity in Italy

Mount Etna has erupted on the island of Sicily in Italy.

A column of volcanic ash rose to a height of 10 km, and ashfall was observed in settlements in the vicinity of the volcano. This was stated by the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology of Italy.

The volcanic eruption disrupted the operation of Catania Airport. The number of flights in it was limited to six per hour, the "red" danger level was declared.

Roads and settlements in the path of the volcanic cloud spread were covered with a layer of ash. The mayor of the Sicilian city of Jared issued a decree on reducing the speed of cars on the roads to avoid accidents.
