Poisonous jellyfish appeared in Phuket

The Department of Marine and Coastal Resources of Thailand reported the appearance of dangerous jellyfish Pelagia sp in the coastal waters of Phuket.

The first jellyfish representatives of the scyphoid family were found on the beach by the staff of the Pullman Panwa Beach Resort.

Scientists are currently studying jellyfish caught in the sea off the coast of Phuket. Meeting with this marine life threatens vacationers with serious troubles in the form of severe burns or an allergic reaction. The agency warned the hotels to prepare to provide first aid to the victims.

If contact with a jellyfish does occur, doctors do not advise rinsing the burn with fresh water or alcohol-containing liquids, instead it should be treated with lime juice or vinegar. You should immediately contact the lifeguards on the beach, and in case of serious symptoms — to the doctors.

The number of these dangerous jellyfish on the beach can be estimated at night: this species has the ability to glow in the water.
