Severe wildfires are raging in Greece
Severe forest fires have arisen in a number of settlements in Greece.
So, in the area of Kuvara in the Greek metropolitan area of Attica, residents of the settlements of Lagonisi, Saronida and Anavissos are being evacuated. People are invited to move to the beach in the Palia Fokea area for now. Volunteers, 150 firefighters in 40 vehicles, six walking groups, including a fire brigade from Romania, seven planes and four helicopters are involved in fighting the fire.
In addition, a strong natural fire has arisen near the town of Loutraki on the shore of the Gulf of Corinth, there is a forest burning in the mountains. The authorities are evacuating residents from the districts of Kaliteya, Pevkias, Irini, as well as from a children's camp. 54 firefighters with 19 vehicles and two walking groups, three planes, two fire helicopters and an Air Force helicopter are working at the site.
Forest fires were also recorded in the region of Boeotia (central Greece), near the city of Thessaloniki and in other regions of the country.
It has been very hot in Greece for the second week: the air temperature at the weekend reached +46 ° C in the shade.
