Ski resorts in Turkey suffer from lack of snow

Sski resorts in Turkey suffer from a lack of snow and tourists. The season is still not open at most of the country's winter resorts.

Due to abnormally warm and snowless weather, resorts record a significant decline in tourist flow, tourists massively cancel hotel reservations.

At the resorts of Palandoken and Kartalkaya, the season was supposed to start in December, but the trails there are still unsuitable for skiing.

In Uludag, according to the Turkish Association of Ski and Snowboard Teachers, almost complete absence of snow is observed for the first time in 38 years, although heavy snowfalls were expected here in early December.

Tourists can ride only on the slopes in Kartalkai, but even there the snow is artificial, and only half of the 25 descents are open.

At the same time, other ski resorts were a little more lucky: tourists have been accepted in Erciyes since the end of December, there were even competitions of snowboarders there. The resort hotels are 80% full.

According to meteorologists, snow at ski resorts may pass no earlier than the weekend.
