Smoking in public places banned in Milan

In Milan, Italy, a ban on outdoor smoking in public places came into force on January 1, 2025.

The program to improve air quality in Milan was launched back in 2021, when the authorities banned smoking in parks, playgrounds, and bus stops.

The restrictions now apply to streets and roads, outdoor restaurants and cafes, and other public places. Smoking is allowed only in special isolated rooms.

Violators face fines ranging from 40 to 240 euros.

However, the ban does not apply to smoking electronic cigarettes.
