The capital of Kazakhstan, Nur-Sultan, will be renamed Astana again

Residents of Kazakhstan supported the idea of renaming the capital of the country Nur-Sultan back to Astana.

The decision was made during a public online hearing. The broadcast was carried out on the social networks of the city administration.

As the deputy head of the Institute of State History Burkitbay Ayagan noted, the role of the first president Nursultan Nazarbayev in the formation of Kazakhstan is invaluable, however, according to the onomastic commission, the name of the capital Astana more meets the requirements, and most importantly — allows to unite society.

Earlier, residents of Kazakhstan admitted that they were not used to the new name of the capital of the republic and continue to call Nur-Sultan Astana.
