The European Council allowed Romania to join the Schengen Area this year
The head of the European Council, Charles Michel, allowed Romania to join the Schengen area this year.
This was announced at a joint press conference with the President of Romania in Bucharest. According to the head of the European Council, Romania meets all the criteria for joining the Schengen area and can join it this year. He stressed that the EU will be more protected with Romania and Bulgaria in the Schengen area, so it is necessary to seek their accession as soon as possible.
