The oldest diamond on the planet has been discovered in Russia
Scientists have discovered the oldest diamond on the planet in Yakutia Region (Russian Federation).
An international team of scientists conducted a study and found out that a small 0.3 mm diamond found in the rocks of the Udachnaya kimberlite pipe in Yakutia is the oldest sample in the world — it is about 3.6 billion years old.
The age of the diamond was determined by isotope dating.
