There was a flood in Istanbul

In Istanbul, three people were killed as a result of severe flooding that occurred after a downpour.

According to the authorities of Istanbul province, people died in the Basaksehir district after being hit by flood waters. This area of the city suffered the most from flooding: in several streets the water level rose to critical levels, parked cars were carried away by streams. In addition, a group of residents there was blocked in the local library — they were evacuated to the building of the district administration.

Local authorities urged the population to stay at home if possible.

It is also reported that a tunnel near the New Istanbul Airport was flooded due to a downpour.
