Tourist tax to be increased in Barcelona

The authorities of Barcelona (Spain) will increase the tourist tax from April 1, 2024.

The tourist fee in Barcelona consists of a regional tax, which goes to the budget of Catalonia and depends on the category of the accommodation in which the tourist settles, and a citywide tax (2.75 euros for all types of accommodation).

Starting from April 1, 2024, the city tour tax in Barcelona will increase from 2.75 euros to 3.25 euros.

Thus, a tourist staying overnight in Barcelona at a 4* hotel will pay a tax of 4.95 euros per night, at a 5* hotel, guests will have to pay a tax of 6.75 euros, etc.

The Barcelona authorities say that the increase in the tourist tax is carried out as part of a policy to attract "high-quality" tourists.
